Holding the Memory considers the ways in which we assign meaning and value to objects in order to explore conflicts. The artist has transformed photo-graphs of a pillow into an installation using concrete and black threads.

As a personal object, this photograph is the only item that remained in her possession from a gift she received from her grandmother years ago. In this autobiographical work, the artist draws upon her personal history and biography to explore the meanings of displacement, memories, and the weight of the past.
